Dear Families,
Greetings from Westwood! As the warmth of summer is finally beginning to surround us, I hope this letter finds you and your loved ones in good health and high spirits. With the school year behind us, it’s time to embrace the joys of the season and make the most of our precious time with friends and family.
Summer is a time for exploration, relaxation, and rejuvenation. It presents us with countless opportunities to engage in activities that promote growth and well-being. Please encourage your children to spend ample time outdoors. There is no better way to foster their physical, mental, and emotional development than by embracing the beauty of nature. I invite you to embark on adventures as a family exploring parks, hiking trails, and community playgrounds. Engaging in outdoor activities not only promotes physical fitness but also enhances creativity, problem solving, and social skills. Encourage your children to run, jump, and climb, allowing them to discover the wonders of the natural world while foreign lasting memories.
In addition to outdoor play, reading is a fundamental skill that should be nurtured throughout the summer break. Encourage your children to immerse themselves in captivating stories, fascinating non-fiction, or even imaginative writing of their own. Let their minds wander through the pages of books, unlocking their imagination and expanding their knowledge. Visit our local library and make reading a cherished family activity.
As we continue in our summer journey, we want to share the continuation of our theme ‘Foundations for Success.” Summer offers an opportunity for growth, not only academically but also in character and personal development. Encourage your children to set goals and work towards achieving them. Whether it’s learning a new skill, cultivating a hobby, or helping others through community service, these experiences will build a strong foundation for their future success.
Now, I’d like to provide you with some exciting updates regarding our ongoing construction projects at Westwood. We are committed to enhancing the learning environment and ensuring all students have access to the best possible resources. Our dedicated team has been hard at work over the summer deep cleaning classrooms, monitoring our roofing project, and supporting the installation of the solar panels in the parking lot. These improvements will create a more sustainable learning environment.
Our PTA will host a “Sneak Peak” and popsicle party on August 15th, where you and your family will have the opportunity to explore the campus and see where your child’s classroom is. They will share opportunities and resources. Look out for further details in the coming weeks as we finalize plans.
Lastly, I want to extend my deepest gratitude for your continued support and partnership. Your involvement and engagement play an integral role in our students’ success, and we are immensely grateful for your dedication to their education. Wishing you all a safe, enjoyable, and fulfilling summer ahead. May these months be filled with laughter, growth, and precious moments of connection.
